Barcelona Set to Play First Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years since relocating for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium in early November. Officials stated approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body to host the next European match facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
