Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to share openly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.

Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.

The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
