Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th place as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
